Canada Greener Homes Grant Program

Qualify for up to $5,600 back with the Home Efficiency Grants.

How Do I Get Started?

Pre-Energy Audit $500.00 plus hst.

Post-Energy Audit $250.00 plus hst

 Participants are eligible for up to $5,600 total under the initiative. 

The Canada Greener Homes Grant provides funds for home evaluations and for retrofits, to a total of $5,600.  Homeowners are eligible for up to $5,000 total for the implementation of eligible retrofits such as home insulation, windows doors, and air sealing for up to $600 total for the cost of pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations.

It is important that you read all eligibility criteria and grant requirements to be sure that you will qualify for reimbursement at the end of the process.

This assessment of your home’s current energy use is a quick, easy process. It will reveal areas where you can make improvements (called retrofits) to lower your energy bills and increase home comfort

Toronto Home Energy Loan Program (HELP) For Home Energy Efficiency

 Through the Home Energy Loan Program (HELP), Toronto homeowners can get a low-interest loan of up to $75,000 to cover the cost of home energy improvements, such as:

  • High-efficiency furnaces / boilers / air conditioners
  • Air-source heat pumps
  • Window / door replacements
  • Basement/attic/exterior wall insulation
  • Air sealing (e.g. weather stripping or caulking)
  • Geothermal systems
  • High-efficiency water heaters
  • Tankless water heaters
  • Drain-water heat recovery systems
  • Toilet replacements
  • Solar hot water systems
  • Rooftop solar PV panels
  • Electric vehicle charging stations (Level 2)
  • Battery storage

With low fixed interest rates, and terms of up to 20-years amortization on qualifying measures*, HELP makes it easy and affordable for homeowners to pay for these home improvements over time, and access rebates offered by utility companies. Once funding is approved, homeowners can hire the contractor of their choice and complete their renovations.

CMHC Green Home offers a premium refund of up to 25% to borrowers who either buy, build or renovate for energy efficiency using CMHC-insured financing.

 ENERGY-EFFICIENT ADVANTAGE PROGRAM The Canada Guaranty Energy-Efficient Advantage Program rewards borrowers who purchase or renovate a home with energy-efficient upgrades.
